Premature Ejaculation – How to Avoid It and Last Longer in Bed?

According to a study by the National Library of Medicine, it was demonstrated that males took approximately 5.4 minutes to ejaculate. Premature ejaculation is the sexual dysfunction where men ejaculate within 1 minute after sexual penetration. Additionally, many times it is also defined as a situation where a man cums or ejaculates faster than usual.

Premature ejaculation can be frustrating for you and your partner. However, despite the embarrassment accompanying the issue, you must not ignore the fact that it is a common sexual dysfunction in males. According to the American Urological Association, about one in five men experience premature ejaculation during some point in their lives between 18-59 years of age. According to Thomas J. Walsh, a urologist at the University of Washington, the sexual problem affects all men at least once in their life. So, you are not alone in facing premature ejaculation. Nevertheless, it does not mean that you can ignore the issue and keep your and your partner’s sexual health and satisfaction at stake.

Although men suffering from premature ejaculation find it almost impossible to control it and last longer in bed, it is possible to combat the condition with a few things kept in mind and some conscious changes made to your sex life.

1. Practice Mental Distractions

Thinking of non-erotic things during sex can help you last a little longer in bed. The more you are enjoying sexual intercourse, the higher the chances to ejaculate faster. Consequently, switching your brain to something that lowers your excitement level like soil erosion or global warming is suggested. It is a classic way used by men to last longer in bed without ruining sex fun.

2. Masturbate Before Having Sex

Masturbating two or three hours before penetration can help you increase your bedtime exponentially. Masturbation helps you keep your excitement level under control. Most often, when you are about to have sex after a long time, you ejaculate sooner than usual because of the prolonged sexual inactivity. As a result, you can try ejaculating prior to having sex with your partner.

3. Switch Sex Positions More Often

Apart from spicing things up, switching sex positions can also make you postpone your ejaculation. Pounding your partner in one position can make you reach your orgasm faster because of constant stimulation. However, trying new sex positions during intercourse will give you time off stimulation, which will help you relax and perform better. Also, make sure that you take things slow. Faster strokes can make you cum faster while gentle strokes let you and your partner enjoy the activity for a longer period.

4. Try the Edging Technique

You can train yourself to stay longer in bed by practicing the edging technique on a regular basis. Edging is one of the most opted techniques to avoid premature ejaculation. According to it, you try to control your ejaculation when you are on the ‘edge’ of cumming, stay stimulated for some more time, and have a more intense ejaculation. The technique suggests getting close to orgasm, and then, stopping all sexual activity, to avoid discharge. Although edging sounds simple, it takes regular practice to master it and use it in your favor.

5. Use Condoms

Condoms are manufactured with a thick plastic covering that reduces the sensitivity of your penis while having sex, which can drastically improve your sex time in bed. Apart from using them to last longer, condoms are essential for sexual intercourse every time. They also help you avoid sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

6. Exercise for Stronger Pelvic Muscles

Kegel exercises are beneficial for strengthening your pelvic muscles. These exercises help you train your muscles through a series of contraction and release movements. For example, lift your prostate and let it loose after a few seconds without using your hands. Once done, the next step would be to try tightening your testicles and holding them for a few seconds. Practicing kegel exercises for a prolonged period can improve your sex duration.

Sexual pleasure is inevitable for a sexually healthy relationship, and premature ejaculation can ruin it for you as well as your partner. If you face premature ejaculations regularly and notice it affecting your relationship and your health, you must take professional help. Health care in the modern day has advanced exponentially and some medications and treatments minister to the issue medically, thus providing you with a long-term solution to the problem.
