Immunity booster drinks at this point of time is an every household need. The growing number of COVID-19 cases worldwide has put a question in our mind, “how to get rid of this coronavirus” or “how to reduce the risk of infection”. External precautionary things like mask, sanitizer, frequent hand washing, social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene are all good ways to keep the virus at bay but along with these preventive measures, there is one more thing which can help you to avoid this infection –a strong immune system. At this time, when this virus has engulfed the entire world, having a strong immunity is the first line of defence against these harmful foreign pathogens.

So, how can you improve your immunity? In addition to exercise, good sleep and a balanced diet, there are a few immunity booster drinks that you should opt for. Ayush Ministry has also issued some self-care measures to improve immunity, which also includes Kadha and herbal tea.

Herbal Tea for Strong immunity

Hence, presenting here some immunity-boosting elixirs that will flush the toxins out from your body and strengthen your immunity to fight against Coronavirus.

Hot Water, Honey and Turmeric

Water, which is an elixir of life, is the first potion that you should drink all over the day. After waking up, the first drink you should have is a glass of warm water. Sipping warm water early in the morning helps in detoxifying the body as well as maintaining the right electrolyte balance in the body. Honey has antibacterial and anti-viral properties that help to improve the immune system.

Method: Add a little bit of honey and turmeric in hot water, some mint or coriander leaves, if possible. Consume this super drink every three hours and no respiratory infection will happen to you.

Kadha (Decoction)

Kadha is considered to be one for the most potent forms of medicine that has marvelous health benefits. As per recommended by Ayush, Kadha is one of the greatest immunity booster drinks that will help to improve the immunity. It is a natural remedy that helps in fighting seasonal infections and fever.

Method: 

Add Tulsi (Basil), Dalchini, (Cinnamon), Kalimirch (Black pepper), Shunthi (Dry Ginger) and Munakka (Raisin) in 1 glass of water and give it a boil. You can add jaggery or a dash of fresh lemon juice for improving its taste. Sip this drink once or twice a day.

Golden (Turmeric) Milk

Turmeric milk, which is popularly named as the ‘golden drink’ in most western countries, is a desi energy drink that has been recommended by our grannies as a remedy for almost all possible illnesses. There are countless benefits associated with turmeric milk or haldi doodh consumption, including strengthening the immune system, curing wounds, fighting skin infections and treating bones and joint issues. And what makes turmeric a great immunity booster drink? It is the presence of a chemical named curcumin. This chemical has the power to absorb in fat and tissues of our body and milk becomes a smooth medium for this chemical to travel easily and swiftly to the body tissues.

Method:

As per the recommendation of Ayush Ministry- add a half teaspoon Haldi in 150ml of hot milk and drink once or twice a day.

The Ginger-Cinnamon-Tulsi Tea

In Ayurveda, Ginger has been regarded as the best healing spice that naturally detoxifies the digestive tract and intensifies digestive fire. It also helps in reducing joint pain and removing toxins from the body. Even rubbing it on the stomach also provide relief from a sinus headache. And cinnamons are rich in antioxidants. Tulsi is a medicinal herb that has antipyretic, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal antiseptic and anticancer properties.

Method: Take a pan, add a cup of water in it. Add an inch thick freshly chopped ginger and 4-5 Tulsi leaves in it, and let it boil. At this stage add a stick of cinnamon and allow it to simmer in for a minute. Turn off the flame. It’s ready! Add a pinch of black pepper on it if you like. The black pepper is also a rich source of Vitamin C and helps to improve immunity. 

Lemongrass, Turmeric and Carom Seeds (Ajwain) Tonic

Turmeric has antiseptic, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Lemongrass has vitamin A, which acts as a good immunity booster. And carom seeds are anti-inflammatory and speed up the digestion process.

Method: Add a few leaves of lemongrass in the hot water and a few carom seeds. Boil it and then let it stay for 2-3 minutes. At last, add a dash of turmeric and stir properly.

Giloy Juice

Known as Amrita in Sanskrit, Giloy is an Ayurvedic herb that has been in Indian medicine for ages. It can be consumed in a form of juice, powder or capsules. Food and Drug Administration has approved its benefits and uses. Giloy juice is great in treating chronic fever, boosting immunity, improving diabetes, reducing stress and anxiety and fighting respiratory problems.

Method:

Scrape the outer skin of the Giloy branch, wash it and then chop it into small pieces. You can add directly it into the water or can also blend it. Add one glass of water and mix the Giloy in it and boil it until one glass water turns into half glass. Now, sieve this blend into a glass and consume empty stomach in the morning and evening or as directed by the physician.

All of the ingredients used in the above-mentioned drinks are natural and thus will not cause any of the side-effects. However, there is no evidence that these hot drinks may help you get rid of the infection but yes these will definitely provide you with an extra layer of protection from Coronavirus by boosting your immunity.
